June 2025: Soils and Grading Nearing Completion

The Rise —
Trucks working on construction site at The Rise

As we move into the summer months, we’re excited to share that our current construction phase is progressing ahead of schedule and entering its next stage at The Rise. Over the past several weeks, our team has been taking advantage of good weather to complete a major milestone: the import of more than 200,000 cubic yards of clean soil to support future grading operations across the site – an important step that sets the stage for upcoming construction of new roads, infrastructure, and buildings.

This soil import effort was completed ahead of schedule, allowing us to move quickly into the final grading work needed to establish a uniform site elevation in preparation for vertical construction. As an additional benefit of being ahead of schedule, the intense truck traffic you may have noticed is now in the rearview mirror, so to speak. Thank you for letting us get the job done early. Throughout this process, we continue to coordinate closely with our construction team, our engineers and the city of Cupertino to ensure that all site management protocols are being met — and in most cases exceeded. From dust control to street cleaning to noise mitigation, we have implemented and are assiduously following strict Best Management Practices (BMPs) and adhering to all approved site management plans to minimize disruption to our neighbors and surrounding community.

As part of this effort, street sweepers are on site daily to help keep surrounding roadways clean and reduce dust from construction activity. Our team exceeded standard requirements with continuous sweeping and ongoing monitoring of nearby streets, the public right-of-way, and surrounding areas. We are monitoring all soil work to ensure environmental reporting standards set forth by the Department of Environmental Health are maintained and laborers, neighbors and the general public are not at risk.

We understand that despite our substantial efforts, there will be inconveniences and impacts to you during this particularly intense period of site work. Whether you are a neighbor who has experienced a bit more dust or a crosstown resident whose commute was delayed by a queue of trucks, we recognize things have been a little different for all during this time and everyone is carrying a little bit of the load of this project.

Your cooperation does not go unnoticed. We greatly appreciate everyone doing their part for this major undertaking that promises to bring a great long-term benefit to the entire Cupertino community, notwithstanding the near-term inconveniences.

Looking ahead, we will soon complete final grading work to shape the site and prepare it for infrastructure and the first vertical buildings. Later this summer, you’ll also see some limited utility work along Wolfe Road and Stevens Creek Boulevard — we’ll be sharing more details soon.

We remain grateful for your continued support as we move through this exciting and highly active phase of construction. As always, if you have any questions or would like to receive future updates directly, feel free to reach out:
