Summer Progress Update from The Rise - June 2024
Dear neighbors,
Summer is here and we trust you have enjoyed these first few weeks of sunny weather. At The Rise, we are in the final countdown to resumption of construction work, currently slated to commence in the late July/early August timeframe.
The first activities you will see on site will be the continuation of site preparation work, in close coordination with local utilities such as PG&E and CalWater, as we upgrade existing and install new utilities to serve our project as well as the surrounding neighborhood. You’ll notice this work will be concentrated on the west half of the mall adjacent to the I-280 freeway. During this time, we anticipate minimal disruption to neighbors and passing motorists, not unlike our work earlier this year. This phase should last no more than two months.
At the same time, we will be completing design and submitting permit applications for the site infrastructure work that will follow in the autumn timeframe. This will be a more substantial undertaking, and the final step before commencement of vertical construction.
If you have not already done so, please subscribe to our construction email list at construction@therisecalifornia.com to receive specific details about upcoming construction at The Rise.
Community Support
Over the last 10+ years and throughout its many forms, The Rise has maintained an unwavering commitment to Cupertino, with significant financial and in-kind support touching many segments of our community thanks to not just the generosity, but the passion of Sand Hill Property Company and its capital partners to make a positive impact on this community beyond any property revitalization.
During the pandemic, this support included the mass collection and distribution of tens of thousands of KN95 masks to local hospitals, to partnering with local school districts to combat food insecurity through direct donations of tens of thousands of meals.
This year, we are pleased to announce our support, as a Presenting Sponsor, of Cupertino’s Summer Concert Series. As economic challenges continue to have real impacts within our community and across the greater Bay Area, we are proud to once again support important city-wide amenities like the Summer Concert Series. We hope the concerts bring us closer together this summer and create some excitement around The Rise, what we hope to be Cupertino’s future social heart. We hope you will partner with us and the City in this effort by coming out to support this event and to enjoy the opportunity to celebrate our community together.
There is indeed much to look forward to, and many more benefits coming to the community as progress continues at The Rise. This new vibrant downtown district will feature a dynamic and walkable retail environment with markets, restaurants and shops, and over 7 acres of newly imagined community open space, including two event plazas, recreational parks, playfields, and a miles-long addition to the regional bike and pedestrian trail system. Of course, The Rise will also include a diverse array of housing options in a new inclusive neighborhood that also promises to deliver nearly half of the city’s affordable housing obligations. With its immense fiscal benefits, we hope to be bringing The Rise to life at just the right time.
Best wishes for a wonderful and safe start to your Summer.
Sincerely,
Reed Moulds
